The leadership framework that is used in MILE incorporates forty core behaviors within nine identified leadership dimensions and has been adopted from the New York City Leadership Academy’s Leadership Performance Planning Worksheet (LPPW). This tool identifies the critical areas of leadership for principals, provides a common language amongst practitioners and enables principals to identify areas of strength.
Group professional development allows first-year principals to interact with other first-year principals, while responding to the issues and challenges that many first-year principals encounter. A sample of one of our professional development sessions has been posted on this website for your perusal.
MILE provides High-Quality Leadership Mentors by:
Utilization of research-based best practices in education
Requiring reflective development
Encouraging varied and ongoing assessments
Promoting common language among practitioners
Reinforcing good decision-making practices
Overall, there is a definite need for school instructional leader mentoring. It provides new principals with the tools of success, while sharing ideas/experiences with other new principals.
